61 plate scout rear spring

Featured Replies

Hi all, could anyone advise please,I have broken rear coil spring on my scout and I wondered if this was the same spring as standard Octavia or a special.

When the front spring went on my Scout I was informed by my local Skoda dealer the suspension components on the Scout are the same as the standard Octy (though IIRC it has  independent rear suspension that not all Octys have).

the scout has different springs all round to any other octavia, it is even higher than the octavia 4x4 so you will need scout specific springs i would personally replace all four at the same time but as a minimum i would replace both the rears, i would take a guess at the small pigtail coils have broken i had thwe same on one of my old 4x4 octavias

if your local dealer had fitted a normal octavia spring to the front of your scout  you would of had a lowered scout on the front :)              the suspension on the front fits but the springs are longer on the scout, the rear end is different due to the haldex system

As above, the Scout has unique rear springs.

There was a thread a while ago where someone took their Scout to a local garage who fitted the standard springs. The Scout was sat clearly lower than it should have been afterwards.

Just going by what the dealer told me! :D

The car sits fine, so they appear to have fitted the correct one. I did ask if both should be changed, but was told no.

It's this misinformation and poor standard of customer service from Skoda and its dealers, and the extremely poor  reliability of my vehicle, will mean this will probably be my first and last Skoda.

Apologies to the OP, don't want to hijack the thread.

No they insisted there was no reason to do it. I'd be throwing good money away.

I've experienced  numerous other situations along a similar vein. All with a dealership that gets high praise in the dealership review section on this forum.

As previously stated, this will probably be my last Skoda.

The Scout has what is officially called the rough road package which gives a higher ride height and longer suspension travel. I believe the 4x4 has the same and the slight difference in ride height between the scout and 4x4 is down to the sidewall height difference of the tyres.
