I'm looking for a fault code reader for my 2002 1.9tdi Octy.  I've looked at loads on Ebay, Amazon etc and some of them say they work on all VAG cars from 1996, but some say they only cover diesels from 2004.  Some reviews say they do work on pre 2004 diesels!  I'm confused.

 

Can anyone help me please?  Just looking for something cheap and cheerful.
