Low boost and slight oil leak

Featured Replies

My car seems to not be running on full boost and lately I noticed a slight oil leak under the drivers side.   Also when I drive and at low speed it makes a turbo flutter noise.  I have a forge dv and it doesn't flutter once going quicker or under more load never noticed it before until recently don't know if that is related

Any ideas what the issues could be

Look closely at the intercooler pipes down at the bottom joints; a leak here could give you all the reported symptoms.

I took the wheel and inner off today and had a look at the pipe work to the intercooler it all seemed to be connected ok.  However there does seem to be oil around the bottom of the intercooler.

I've also noticed recently that the is a wering noise on start up sometimes and then it goes off almost sounds like a fan but little higher pitched

OK, that's possibly 2 different issues:-

  1. Split intercooler.
  2. Secondary air pump is starting to get noisy. A site search will explain the alternatives for dealing with that.

Update on this 're the loss of boost... i found that a pipe from from n249 had come off the intake hence was then making the chatter noise and cutting the boost.

I still have some kind of oil leak.  But it doesn't seem to bad but is annoying

Also the secondary air pump is definatly whining but not all the time seems intermittent but this seems an easy enough fix using bolts

@Endisforever - Other thought on the oil leak; check the PAS level (preferably on a cold engine because the oil in the level tank won't be foamy then).
