Intermittent clutch pedal issue

Featured Replies

Over the last week every now and again the clutch peddle will stick half way when I'm letting off the clutch. If I put my toe behind it, it comes out no problem and there doesn't seem to be any issues with going in and out of gears. At first I thought the peddle was getting caught on my mat but that is not the problem. As I say, it doesn't happen every time the clutch is used but I'd like to get to the bottom of whatever it is before it becomes a bigger problem. Is there anything I can check myself on the driveway before having a mechanic look at it? The car is a 2010 diesel vrs.

Thanks

Mark

Slave cylinder as fitted outside the gearbox on my 1.9 05 Octy was the cause. Not expensive or difficult to replace.

The 6 speed gearbox is different as the slave cylinder is inside the gearbox, if it has failed and causing the problem then it's a gearbox out job, i would change the clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel whilst there as well as the slave cylinder.

We call internal salve cylinders "concentric slave cylinders" as the release bearing is built into them

I had similar issue in my Octavia ii 1.9 TDI MT.. one fine day the clutch peddle got sinked and was not coming back to original position (So was not able to engage the gears) Master Cylinder was broken and same has been replaced (Costed approx Rs.7K INR spares + Labour + Clutch Bleeding)..

Open the bonnet and try to look near the cylinder if there is any Oil leakage.
