Knocking noise

Featured Replies

Hi again, have just had the octavia (1.9D 105bhp PD) go back to the dealer yet again for a look at a knocking noise this time . All credit to the dealer (Freeborn Skoda) who noticed it was the fly wheel causing it. They replaced it under the waranty and gave us a courtesy car whilst repairing it. Ive been led to belive this has happened on a few other cars and was wondering if any one else has had this happen. The milage on the car is under 16000 and so far its had a new master cylinder as well as this problem. Its a shame as when all is ok its a joy to drive. Yes I know some things can fail at any time but to have the same fault as the master cylinder happen on two octavia's that we have had is making me think whats next!

What kind of knocking noise You had?

When did You hear it (in what situation - reversing, going forward, shifting gear etc.)?

VAG know about the dual mass flywheels, new parts are now fitted to production cars.

Good thing is we have got the tail end of the problem I think, lots failed on the other three brands.

OK, but I can also hear a strange knocking noise when i start reversing. No suspension problems, I had it checked out in the garage.

Gearbox, flywheel or brake pads stuck to the disc?

So I'd like to know, what kind of noise caused by a faulty flywheel?

Is there a chassis number range available of the cars involved?
