Do I need new brake pads and brake discs?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Octavia MkII (2011) is 6 years old now with 55000 KM (~35000 miles), and has been running on the original brake pad and disc. Today while changing to summer tyre, I took some pictures. Could someone please take a look and give me some suggestions if it's time to change them? Thanks in advance.

Nope, looks fine to me. How many miles have you done?
And it's brake, not break :)

Hi Dr Zoidberg, thanks for quick reply. Corrected my mistake :)

I traded in my mk2 after 78000 miles and it was still on the original pads and disks. With a sensible driving style they last forever.

Looks like there is plenty of meat on the front.

Rear left looks like its getting there but not sure if its the camera angle, probably still 3+mm though

Remember there is also a pad on the inside and brake pads sometimes do not wear evenly due to different levels of corrosion on each side of the disc, so to get a full picture you need to inspect both sides.

Agreed with @SuperbTWM with the note that I'm thinking "maybe rear pads subject to measurement saying the LHR is 2mm or thinner" but I don't think you need discs.
