No satellite fix on columbus after battery change

Featured Replies

Can anyone help. My sat nav was working fine last week until I got the battery changed. Since then the unit can not get a satellite fix. The firmware is upto date and I've tried anot her gps receiver to no avail. Can anyone offer advice / solution please.

Possibly blown something inside. Someone else recently had a similar issue when the battery went flat and they jump started the car, since then the unit has been dead. He said mhe'd possibly try and send it to me to have a look but he's busy this weekend, but as for yours..

Press the "Nav" button, and then touch "Current position" and see how many satellites it can see and has locked onto. It'll be something like 7/11 or 0/11 or 0/0 maybe.

When I changed the gps receiver it went to 3 but never moved my location. Siting at 0/11 this morning.

Sounds like a faulty gps, that's the usual one. But as you've changed it then it can only be the radio board inside. Take a pic of the front of the unit (or better still the data label on the top of the unit) and post it up here.

I will do shortly. Is it totally goosed or repairable. Whyis only the gps bit broke the rest of the unit is fine

It's possibly repairable, depending on the pic of the data label (and if I have spares for it).

There's 4 different pcbs inside and only one is blown by the sound of it.

There's a price list in the red link in my sig, but a radio board replacement is £85 plus postage. I'm in North Yorks.
