Octavia MKII Electric Problem

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Looking for some help. I have a MKII Octavia Elegance 2.0 TDi.

I'm seeing a few issues regarding electrics:

1. Every time I turn on/off the car, the clock resets, as do all the trip computer records. This issue has been ongoing for a few months.

2. If I open the drivers door when the lights are still on, the bell that usually gives a warning has stopped. This has started in the past week.

3. The dashboard lights only work if the car is running, they won't work if the car is off, but the car front/rear lights are still on.

I've done the following trouble shooting:

1. Checked fuses, but they seem to be OK

2. Checked that the interior cabin light comes on when the door opens (which I think means that it isn't an issue with a switch in the door).

Can anyone provide any suggestions?

Thanks.

Does sounds like a fuse issue to me.  Have you checked the fuses under the bonnet as well as those in the cabin?

Edit: this sounds like your problem

Looks like it was a fuse under the bonnet in this case.

Looks like it was a fuse under the bonnet in this case.

I changed the fuses, but no luck.

Everything seems to work when the car is on, so could it be a case that the issue is with a constant power supply that isn't working like it should?
