After some info please

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a octavia vrs fsi in the summer and hoping you guys can provide some knowledge? Could you tell me what year that they started using cam chains? I think it's somewhere around 2010... Also how roomy is it between the front and rear seats? In my honda civic 2.2 I can't fit the kids car seat behind me which is no good (I'm 6ft btw) so hoping the octaves can provide!

Can't decide between the manual and dsg, an automatic would be good for long journeys due to a knackered left leg but have read that the dsg system can be  unreliable and expensive to fix?

Thanks

Steve

I have a 55 plate 1.6 FSI hatch with chain driven cam and the leg room in the rear and seating is enough for 2 car seats and a booster.

Honda's Civic aren't an especially large car though, are they. Nice cars though.

You should find the Octavia considerably roomier, in the rear at least.

I like my DSG and would recommend.............I think the 6speed wet are more reliable than the 7speed dry though.

Although they change up too early in some instances it is so easy to override using the +/- semi auto, but still saves any stress on your bad leg.

Is your Civic an auto???

Plenty of room in the back, I'm 5'10 and with the drivers seat in my position I can sit in the rear with a good couple of inches between my legs and the back of the front seat.

Can drive with someone behind me reasonably comfortable. I'm 6'3"

Thanks for the info guys, certainly sounds like its got everything I need. Tilt, is there any badge associated with the different types of dsg/clutch or way of telling them apart in adverts? No, my civic is a manual, I'm fine with it at the moment but my knee is pretty knackered and only going to get worse so future proofing was the hought behind maybe going for the automatic.

Thanks for everyones input, time to start saving! (after a test drive just to make sure!)
