Engine bay water ingress...

Featured Replies

Had a chat with a friendly tech. at Fareham dealership and shared his concerns about the fact that the wings do not have rain channels to keep water from running down into the inner wings. This allows a number of ground connections and other electrical connectors swim in water. Already had all of these cleaned and greased on my 04 Oct.2. as he susspected poor ground connections. Runs over lots of other bits I'd rather not have water on either !!!!

Like the e-box.

That'll explain why I'm in the process of having my alarm siren replaced under warranty as it has water in it and has shorted out!!

Is there a fix of somekind to this?

Anything?

Just ordered one, and dont want its electronics to drown!

It does seem a fundamental design ****-up. I might give Anglian windows a ring to get some gittering installed....

I have real concerns over the reliability of the vehicle through this on a long term basis.

I bought mine as long term investment as I was fed up with buying secondhand cars from people who don't know a dip stick from a walking stick...it seems I've just given the manufacturer a chance to pull my chain.

The Octavia 1 has a 'traditional' arrangement on the inner wing to deal with taking water away. I may even sell mine and buy one of the old models. Or even a Japanese car...they never make mistakes like this.

The Master Technicians at the dealerships seem to have concerns about it, I wonder if the reporting structure at Skoda UK / dealerships allows feedback to the manufacturing engineers at the factory????

Good luck with your decision!

Worried, as I've now ordered my Octy 2 (delivery early April). No idea what the inside of the wings look like, but could one pipe a bead of silicone sealant down the wing to create a water channel? Or is the problem more serious?

i wonder do skoda have some sort of design problems , i have a felicia i dont know if they are all like it , but mine has been getting soaked in the engine bay to the right side of the battery in the corner and also the corner on the drivers side as well , surely they are not meant to be like this are they ?? , i would not know as it is my first skoda but at this rate it could be my last .
