Letterheads on emails - best way?

Featured Replies

Any thoughts please, preferably to include a custom logo?

I don't know if this would mean using a different email method, given there are several, or browser whatever. This is for a domestic standalone rather than company network.

You could use word to compose your emails - that would be a simple way to do it. Insert pictures and format the text as you would if writing a letter.

Otherwise you need to write your emails in HTML. That woul dmean hosting an image that was calle dup on your emails, or attaching the images to every email.

However, Outlook does not display pictures by default so the peopl eyou're sending the email to may not appreciate your letterhead anyway.

 This is the best way...

However, best doesn't necessarily mean good - due to the wide range of e-mail readers out there, you're never going to be able to guarantee how an HTML-based e-mail will be presented (especially if the recipient is using a text-based e-mailer - will be pretty much unintelligible).

Therefore, personally, I wouldn't bother, and would just include pertinent details in a short concise text signature.

Is there any particular reason you would want a letterhead on an e-mail? :rubchin:

Two reasons:

Immediate impact on receipt, re image and professionalism.

Identification once filed (since all emails look the same).

Since the bad old days of Outlook Excess defaulting to automatically open attachments, and hence opening the door to all kinds of nasties, anyone with any sense has steered clear of HTML in the message body. Want to be automatically directed to some dodgy web site without the option ?

By all means have a snazzy HTML attachment which people can choose to open or not. Even better get a PDF printer driver and attach a PDF version of the document you want to impress them with.

As to impact in the message body crank up the good old 'text art'. Amazing what you can achieve with few punctuation marks.

As to identifiaction when filing a well chosen subject line should make your messages stand out.
