Loved every minute

Featured Replies

So I've had my Octy 3 VRS TDi estate since August 2015. Two year lease deal through Simpsons and I've loved every minute, every mile.

Blown away by how good these cars really are. Capable. Frugal. Quiet. Reliable. Cannot fault it. But it's going back this week. And I'm not getting another. (Not right now anyway). There are reasons which sit with another car brand, but reasons that also sit with Skoda.

Firstly I'm defecting to BMW. I have secured an unbelievable lease deal on a run out 5 series M Sport touring. Low deposit. Low monthlies. It was a deal I couldn't pass up on. However, a couple of things with Skoda sealed the deal also. Current lease deals for both the new Octy VRS and the Superb Sportline ( which was a serious contender to replace my current car) are no longer representing such good value. So much so that my new 5 Series deal is actually closer to the VRS (surprisingly close) than it was to the Superb. So Financially, it made sense.

Secondly it's the replacement car. Now it's not the new lights. No honestly it's not, get the black grill and they look ok. It's a few other things. Firstly, that ride height. I'm leasing, so I can't go aftermarket, but although the car handles great, aesthetically it just looks a bit wrong. The new model is the same. Now in my current VRS I feel like I'm driving something a bit special. With the xenons, LED drl's and rear LED's the VRS stands out. But the new car will share the same headlights and rear clusters with the rest of the range. To me, that's a step back for the VRS. It's a step forward for the Octy itself, but the VRS loses its exclusivity. Finally, the new "glass" infotainment system looks incredible, but will be a nightmare to keep fingerprint and smear free. I'm not a fan.

All very subjective stuff, I know, but the above all shaped my thinking over the last three months.

But I leave Skoda ownership as a massive fan of the Octy3 VRS and I'm sure my household will welcome another into the fold over the coming years.

Cheers all.

PS I have various bits to sell but understand I can't advertise on here, but anyone can PM me for details hopefully, and I'll tell you what I've got.

Good luck with the Beemer, there are certainly good deals out there at the moment and although its an older model there is certainly nothing wrong with that.

Best of luck in your new endeavour one day you may be back.:)
