Seat belt catcher squeal (leather seats)

Featured Replies

Anyone else here with leather seats who has the passenger side seat belt catcher squealing against the seat when someone is wearing the belt?

It's starting to drive me nuts... I tried lubricating the insides of the catcher but apparently it's just a loud plasticky squeal caused by friction with the leather

One more reason not to have leather seats... :(

No but I have had a similar rattle on my Civic - cured by sticking some black speaker cloth on the back of the buckle with double sided tape - looks pretty much OE and nice and quiet now.

I tried cleaning the surfaces but had no luck. I will see if I can stick something on it without making it look too improvized...

Piece of the 'soft' half of Velcro looks tidy and very effective. I've noticed some manufacturers do that as standard. I just cut a piece to shape and stick on with a couple of dabs of superglue.

I have a cloth interior I will exchange for your leather one.

Haha. Good one :D. If it wasn't for the electric drivers seat I would happily trade them.

Joking aside, my Renault scenic has squares of felt on both sides of the buckle. Stops any rattles against the centre storage box and squeaks against the leather (well, fake leather).
