1st MOT passed

Featured Replies

So our Superb had its first MOT yesterday and passed.  Expected nothing else to be honest.

There was one "advisory" that said Emissions too clean.  Having looked it up it seems that this is normal.  Never seen it before though.

You should send the certificate to VW, that would make their day :D

My Seat Exeo said that on the MOT, just means that the CO2 level is too low to check... this is NOT the same as the NOx levels in the emission issues... as far as I am aware the UK does not have an MOT test to cover the NOx levels..

my 15 plate has had 3 MOT's now...

Why ?? New cars have to be MOTed after 3 years - so you should be good till mid 2018.

It's a taxi - it has to be tested every year to ensure that members of the public are kept safe whilst they are being ripped off.

Ho Ho... I wish

Meter rates are set by my council, no-one wants to pay the meter rate even on Xmas day... in fact especially on xmas day at T2

We have no waiting time on our tariffs so last night I was kept waiting 15 minutes at 00.30hrs at my cost

My insurance is £1000 a year (62 with max NCD), my badge is £290/3 years, my plate is £250/year.

School contracts go to the lowest bidder after we all jump through hoops to keep county councils happy

Airports cost us anything from £1 to £10 to wait for passengers

A "runner" rarely gets the interest of police (civil matter mate) so thats wages and costs gone up in smoke

Ever wondered why many cabs have a screen behind the driver?

A radio here is £150 a week to rent, a car (just add fuel) is £320 a week

and a taxi driver need not wear a seatbelt

guess why

It seems you don't need to wear a seatbelt if you are reversing either https://www.gov.uk/seat-belts-law/when-you-dont-need-to-wear-a-seat-belt

Many years ago I had a hackney license but I always wore a seatbelt, I don't feel safe without one.

The waiting for pre-booked passengers sometimes annoyed me, if for example you agreed a 10:00pm pick up at a restaurant I'd often go in to find them just beginning their last course and they'd say 'we'll be out in five minutes' which you knew would be between 15 and 30 minutes - people think they are your only fare (wage) for the night!.

Financially it was very different for me as I was employed by a local company who supplied everything - my wages were a third of the fares I picked up.

Only if a passenger is onboard.

Ummm.... maybe because customers like BJM, who think you are ripping them off for a ride in your Jag, might try to strangle you with it.....?

Or maybe because the guys who want a Jaguar are the type who expect you to be instantly on hand to carry their Harrods shopping, dead hookers, golf clubs etc...?

Wrong

at no time need a TAXI (hackney plate/Public hire) driver wear a seatbelt

a PRIVATE HIRE driver need not wear one when loaded... but must when empty

But youd do more fares if not sat waiting for the diners

With T2 at 00.00hrs to 06.00hrs its the 23.55hrs bookings that dont come out who dont like the T2
