Picking up my Yeti!

Featured Replies

So my current car is a 1.0L 3 cylinder VW UP! It is a great car and I have had a lot of fun getting used to driving it (I only passed my driving test just under a year ago.)

Due to the need of having more space and comfort and 4 wheel drive in a car arrising, I decided on a Skoda Yeti as it seemed to fit the bill perfectly. I found a 2014 4x4 2.0L 140HP Elegance model with 39k miles on the clock, which looked pretty fantastic. I decided to give the DSG box a fair shot, so I test drove a 1.2 DSG model as well, but found the diesel manual to be a lot more fun and a lot easier and relaxing to drive than my little UP.

So a few hours later, the deal was done and I pick the car up tomorrow after work! I am very much looking forward to the drive home and using the new car, the diesel engine was fantastic to drive (so much so that I test drove it multiple times whilst the salesman was sorting all the figures out!)

I'll post some pictures when I pick it up. I intend on getting some decent seat covers to cover the driver's side leather seat as I don't want them getting scuffed up during the week.

The spec is a big step up from my base model UP, so there's going to be a lot of gadgets to get used to!

Does anybody else have a similar spec Yeti? If so, how do you find it?

Cheers

How do you find the manual gearbox compared to the DSG? I found it to be a more engaging and enjoyable drive when I tested the two.

The choice of manual or DSG is a very personal one.  As with all my previous cars, my first Roomster was a manual.  After five years of ownership, the return of an old knee injury caused me have to swap my manual Roomster for another with DSG.  Two years on, I have just bought a Yeti; and while my knee has fully recovered and I don't *need* DSG, I loved the experience so much that I specified it on my Yeti.

DSG isn't for everyone and you were right to test drive both manual and DSG variants before buying.

Enjoy your new Yeti.  I'm sure you'll love it!

I've never used the DSG so I can't compare them , but the manual box is spot on .

I couldn't fault the DSG model, it was a pleasant and smooth ride, but I felt a bit less in control/part of the driving experience almost. I know that it will differ from person to person, but I just found the manual to be a bit more fun!

Probably worth adding that I went into the dealership intending on getting a DSG Yeti as I wasn't a fan of the manual gearbox in my UP at all. So was very surprised by the 4x4 manual!
