Help with problems!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2005 fabia 1.4 diesel.  I'm not an expert at all so would appreciate some pointers.  I've noticed a couple of problems lately and have booked the car in next week.  Just looking for an idea of what to expect.  The first thing is that when I reverse there is a clanking from underneath the car.  Not sure what this is but i'm concerned it's the start of something expensive.  The second thing is that i noticed a patch of what i think is oil on the floor in the front passanger foot well.  I saw it when i removed the mat to hoover.  Any ideas what could be causing this?  The final thing is that a couple of the screw holes in the engine/sump guard have opened up and i guess a new guard will be required.  The car has now done nearly 100k.  Am I looking at a big expense for this?  Am wondering whether I now need to consider replacing it.

Cheers

Steve

Not sure about the clanking. Could just be a loose heat sheild or something. Does it happen with rotaton of the wheels or just randomly?

I don't think there is anything that could put oil in the front passenger footwell, unless it's something to do with the aircon.

Not sure what fixing method your engine guard uses but they usually have replaceable clips/inserts.
