Just paid

Hope you paid on your credit card.

I steer clear of Technicar personally as I've found them to be a little arrogant in the past.

I always use Music World for my ICE now. Decent friendly service.

Why did you travel to Sheffield to get the work done, when you live down south?

andy_ccr was going to do it for me but I've had trouble getting hold of him since he changed jobs.

I used Technicar because they've been fundamentally ok in the past and I can visit my friends and family while I'm up in Shef. Lee (big shaven head guy) certainly comes accross as quite arrogant, but Simon and the others are ok I think. My girlfriend's father told me yesterday about a run in he'd had with Lee when he'd gone in for a simple job there.

Will contact the credit card issuer if I can't get satisfactory resolution from them.

Do you think I'm justified in asking them to pay for the rectification to be done at an installer more local to me?

no.

however you are totally correct in your complaints and should demand they put the job right.

I have used technicar in the apst with my focus, I had a concept 500 alarm fitted with intelistart, smart windows and a few other extras. The car went back to them somewhere nearing 11 times and the alarm was still never right.

When I went to another dealer down south and paid for it to be ripped out and reinstalled, they said they had never seen anything like it:(

I had a 50 minute drive to see them, then someone pick me up so was a pain to get there, never appologised once for any inconvenience.

On one occasion had the cheek to tell me to come back in the middle of the week when they were quiter to have a lesson on how to use the alarm.

Will never ever go there for anything ever again.

Sounds to me like they are in breach of contract so you can do this in theory and claim the costs as damages, especially if you can argue that you have lost all confidence in their ability to do the job properly. At the same time you can write to the credit card company and tell them they are jointly liable under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. May end up in small claims court though.

Alternatively you can agree to let them put it right as long as they pay your reasonable expenses for driving up to them

they sound rubbish, i'd steer well clear in the future!
