Brake Pedal Clunk VRS

Featured Replies

Morning all.

Ive noticed every now and then that the brake pedal on my VRS gives out a clunk when you go to apply it, then it disappears for a few days.

Anyone come across this?

I think I had something similar. I suspected it was because I was used to cars where the pedals are closer together, and I was stepping on the pedal a bit off-centre. Since I consciously readjusted I haven't noticed the "creak" I was getting.

Makes sense that mate I guess.

This was a defined like "dunk" noise, as though it was not sat in a bush right or something.

Ill have to have a look see if all is ok under the dash on the pedal box..

I'm experiencing the same on my 2010 elegance. As you say, it's not every time the pedal is pressed, just every now and then. I can't feel any odd or unusual feedback through the pedal, but I can hear that 'clunk'.

Yeah that sounds the same.

Its as though there is a nylon bush that's worn or not seated right to me.

I get this early morning sometimes it is the 2nd press of the pedal (sometimes feels like back pressure on the pedal as well)

Similar thing happens on wife's car but usually the clutch pedal. Turned out to be car mats creeping out of place and snagging on the pedal. Disconcerting when it first happened.

mine does this. I think it's a spring in the mechanism that just gets over tensioned/pulled out of line and then moves back making the sound.
