Vrs Towbar fitting

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted their own towbar. Can't decide whether to fit one myself or pay someone.

Yep. Got a company car so had to do it properly. That included the factory prep and the physical fitting. Cost about £600 I seem to remember which was about £250 for the factory prep and £350 for the fitting

I did (not a VRS though), bought a Westfalia with 13 pin dedicated electrics from PF Jones.

Took me most of a day to strip and fit the bar, but there was nothing too technical, then I got a local garage to do the coding while they were servicing the car.

Everywhere I look says the Vrs is awkward to fit a towbar. It's just nuts and bolts at the end of the day though.

£550 optional extra

Works or they fix it under warranty for 3 years WFT is NOT to like

Have to agree on the factory fit with fully detachable bar. Not a huge difference in price between the proper job and a job. If it is a new order and the car is 20K plus, and you know you will need a towbar, I can't understand the logic in getting one fitted later.

Trip to the fitter, bits of the car retro fitted for electrics, bumper off, bumper cut and then refitted, coding, something is wrong with the coding then another trip to get it sorted etc.

Factory fit - done.

Yes I get that having it as a factory fit makes sense. We didn't buy the car new so that that wasn't an option
