vRS TDI 184 clutch upgrade availability

Featured Replies

Anybody know if there are clutch upgrades available for the vRS 2.0 TDI 184?

Had a quick look online but can't find any vehicle specific. Could only find a Sachs Performance clutch for the TSI.

Also, what torque is the OEM clutch rated at?

My guess is that the VRS TSI and TDI's will use the same clutch setups as they produce similar torque. Try contacting Darkside Developments or similar tuning companies. They will be able to confirm required parts from your chassis number. The OEM clutch will not handle much more than stock power. The springs on the pressure plate are apparently the weak point.

Thanks.

Just doing a bit of forward planning.

Had my car dyno'd & stock torque is quite a bit higher the quoted factory figure.

How much more torque than the quoted 280lb/380nm? Could it be an optimistic dyno?

Torque 413Nm. Power was 191bhp.

Sounds about right, as I've seen similar figures from the same engine.

So its possible that the same engine that makes 190bhp/400nm in the Superb has the same map?

Not sure about the Superb 190, but if it is based on the EA288 engine, then it's possible.
