Fabia VRS Diesel to Fabia TSI 1.2

Featured Replies

I would give a little extra and go for 2013 110 hp if you are thinking about 1.2 tsi

@bigjohn do you think it's better to go for the monte carlo due to the chain belt in the 2011

isstannbullu34,  are you talking about Euro 6 1.2TSI 110ps (108hp) engines that went in Mk3 Fabia in 2014?

What Mk2 Fabia 1.2TSI has a 110 hp engine?

I am suggesting to avoid mk2 105 hp and i am for mk3 euro 6 ones. Sorry for typo, talking about mk3 from 2014

I would not bet my house on early 1.2TSI Euro 6's. As much 'Buyer beware' as with any VW Group creations.

Just the usual as it is turning out, snagging faults that appear in some as they get a bit older.

Hence another engine the VW Group drop and move on to the 1.0TSI's.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.

'Get away with some crap motors and just get caught out by the internet but say overblown on forums'....

Completeley agree with you. I definitely would not bet either, but they seems to be less problematic than earlier 1.2 'for now' and i am sure my next car will not be any VAG group one. Have to keep mine for 1-2 years and if it has been still alive at that time, will get rid of it.

I cannot complain about the performance though. However, reliability of the engine is a big question mark.9

My suggestion to OP was if he wants to make a choice between two :)

Coming from owning both models I love my vrs tdi but once driving the monty you soon love the refined drive.

Getting the car remapped will certainly make it a great drive.

I work on ford's for a living and the 1l ecoboost with a 120 hp pulls like a train.

I have just come back from the lakes drIving the monty and doing over 700miles  jumped straight into my old fabia yea that initial grunt you notice but it soon so goes and to be honest it feels Old and noisey. I have done 130 thousand in my fabia and had it ages I love it but I love fabia tsi and had my own worries buying it with it only being a small engine. I have had it a couple of months now, I'm glad we bought it.

If your you really want the grunt buy the monty diesel version it's 105bhp you could get it remapped. My mate owns one and loves it.

Regarding timing chain yes they do go but what ever car you buy they all have problems.  I owned a nice bmw and at 4 years old it had a new crankshaft and timing chain 4 grand job..... I had the fabia vrs at the same time and kept that over the bmw.

My point being every manufacturer has issues. The timing chain kit is about 100 pound for the tsi and approx a days labour. As long as it's been serviced and there's no rattles I wouldn't be to worried.Note that's to replace the chain to the revised version. If it were to fail it would be a diferant matter and a lot more money so you could always

look at getting it changed.

The 1.4 tsi is a lot more prone to problems.

@Damo152003 thanks a lot for the details. I had 2 choices either to go with a 2011 1.2 Tsi SE for £5250 or a 2013 Monte Carlo 1.2 Tsi for £6650 both 105 bhp.

The consensus by folk on here is to go for the Monte Carlo
