Featured Replies

hi new to skoda took a 13 plate fabia vrs a spin loved it purchases car just over a month ago travelled down south and oil light came on it was a good level before I left topped up with oil and came back home low and behold oil light again car is under dealership warranty is this going to be a problem with car or car dealership?looking for advice on how best to tackle this thanks

Welcome.

Bought from who and warranty with who?

All you need to know is in the Fabia Mk2 section 'pinned' at top of the page.

Start the Warranty Claim tomorrow.

Known issues.  Known by Skoda Main Dealers, Skoda UK, Skoda CZ and many others.

EDIT.

An Oil Consumption test will need carried out.

?

When the Low oil light came on how much oil did you put in, it could have been 1.5 litres low.

Contact Skoda UK Customer Services ASAP, Get the Service History & Warranty History  for the car.

You want to know if an Oil Consumption test has been done already or Oil Spray Jets replaced.

?

Was it a Skoda Approved Used Car,

& is it other 30 days you have had the car, or if under can you return it because it will be faulty & not fit for purpose or merchantable quality.

It wasn't a skoda dealer it was a large car dealership called bridgend I have a full 1 year warranty on the car it is about 45 days I have had car now so i can't return car but am I right in thinking they are allowed 1 chance to rectify problem then I can ask for change of vehicle ?

OK,

I know http://bridgendgroup.co.uk  very well.

Currently i am in Sunny South Ayrshire.

So you need all in writing,  they will likely want to eventually rebuild the engine, that is a nonsense.

So the Known issues & you need the Warranty Claim started now, and qualified technicians diagnosing.

all the best.

?

How much oil did you put in the first time a Low Oil Light showed.

1 litre will be unlikely to have brought the oil up to 3.6 litres.

Opening the bonnet for 30 seconds puts the oil light of for 100km.

Here is an idea of just how big the issue is.

Probably SKODA / VW will provide a new engine to the WARRANTY Provider 'free' and make some agreement to cover the labour costs an BRIDGEND are unlikely to want to pay INGRAM's to fit the new engine.

Hi there bridgend filled car up with oil 500 miles later oil empty now saying I will have to make a contribution towards cost of new engine ?Surely they can't do this help needed cheers

Who says you will have to make a contribution towards an engine Bridgend, the mechanic, the manager or who?

What does the T&C's on the Warranty say, who is the Warranty with?

Likely the Warranty Underwriter will need to chase Skoda UK for a contribution.

I hope you have this in writing from Bridgend or the Warranty Provider.

As to filling up with oil, they needed to put in a new oil filter & oil and be sure not to overfill.

They need to get a grip, diagnose the fault which is not difficult and then get on with the Warranty Repairs, likely a new engine,

so Bridgend or the Warranty Provider will be into it for £4,500 or so.

Bridgend phoned tonight and said I would need to contribute they were told politely no chance just get a new car and have it back if that's the case then went on to talk about audis using 1 litre of oil a month and it's acceptable well not in this case it ain't 500 miles and oil is drained no chance meeting with them in morning so I will need to wait on what nonsense they say cheers for help

Some idiot at Bridgend must have watched Audi trying to tell owners that 1 litre a month was acceptable before that was all shown to be crap.

'May use 0.5 litres in 1,000 km'  VW Group says for every type of engine they have built for years now, but that means jack sh!7.

?

Any news on where you are at with them?

There reply is we need the car for a while till they decide what to do with it lol

Frankly, all that really matters is what the Dealership Warranty says.
Ultimately, the rest is just haggling, goodwill gesture, etc.
To be honest, you would have been wisest simply to have rejected the car as soon as you identified the excess oil consumption problem.
Good luck with what is actually a very nice car - if it isn't drinking like Mike Ashley.

Latest update replaced pistons on vrs and got car today engine losing power and engine has a very loud ticking noise coming now can I return car now even though I would be disappointed but confidence gone

Did they explain why exactly they replaced the pistons?

Did they do anything else at the same time?

It does seem to be the case that Skoda have tried "other" fixes - e.g. "Squirters", "Breather pipes", ECU update, etc.
