Monte rear brake conversion to disk

Featured Replies

has anyone done the conversion via a kit,

I think there was someone who got stuff from scrapyard but I think you need to change the whole rear axle.

yeah, a million times easier to do the full lot

Why bother? Do you have a problem with rear brakes fading?

Be sure to declare the conversion from the factory standard fitment rear drum brakes to disc brakes to your insurer.

The same when you change the front discs / calipers for an upgrade.

Some may ask for an 'engineers report' but a MOT done after the date of the Invoice for the parts purchased sometimes does.

Some might not ask, but that does not mean there might be an issue if an Accident Investigator or loss adjuster for the insurance underwriter has to inspect

the car.

Does Adrian Flux ask for an engineers report or details of who carried out the conversion and the parts used?

In some cases we do, it all depends on what scheme/underwriter you are with but probably 99% of policies holder will only need to complete a self declaration modified vehicle report form.

Hi,

I think that I would have decided to conversion rear brakes only when I would buy a new original axle with all required equipments (6Q0500051). It is not cheap (~300 EUR) but I think that it gives a feel of safety. New rear axle was selling in some internet shops, but now I didn't find current offers with this parts.

Buying used parts is very risky, especially when the car from which the parts were putting has an accident, especially on the rear.
