New emissions dilemma

Featured Replies

Had the car 3 years now and the engine has run fine,I have also refused the fix a few times unless VAG could warranty the work/emissions system ,which I never thought they would but it has now been suggested but not verified that an added 2 year warranty will be given so now the dilemma ,they appear to be offering what I wanted but do I really really want it ,as it still may affect an engine that's running great.sometimes having a choice is not that good a bit like VAG a warranty perhaps?

What are the terms of the warranty and how confident are you that they would be honoured?

If you need a Warranty now the car is out of Manufacturers Warranty why not just buy one and keep driving the car you like as it is.

VW Group want you to have The Fix to satisfy their responsibility to the UK Government & Public to remove the Defeat Devices and are offering goody bags to some and now a free Warranty extension with many T&C's and possibly not worth the paper it is written on.

How long are you planning on keeping the car?

If it's much more than 2yr then you might be as well doing nothing since the 'fix' arguably makes the cars less efficient and less reliable.

You may even find you'll get a small premium in resale if your car is 'unfixed'.

I think the issue is simple. The so-called fix offers you no potential gains, but it does offer potential losses.

There is no benefit to you in having it done.
