Green = scenic route?

Red = fastest? 

Orange = ???

Green = Economic?

Red = Fastest? 

Orange = Shortest?

I have also wondered what the 3 options were and like a typical guy can't be bothered to read the manual.

@jagdad is correct. Usually almost always go for the Green and rarely ever the orange.

Orange always seems to take the longest so I don't know how that can be the shortest.. :S

The shortest route might involve using B-roads where as using a longer route on A-roads may be quicker.

It's the shortest in distance, not in time.

I use it to an extent, however it doesn't always know the most dynamic route which will give you both the shortest and fastest. I find that the good old Mk1 brain coupled with a local knowledge regularly out smarts it.
