Think my Columbus is goosed :-(

Featured Replies

So I got in the car this morning and after a couple of minutes realised that although the radio was showing on the display, there was no sound. Tried changing channels and volume but there was no response to any of the controls, either on screen or the physical buttons on the device.

The only thing that has any effect is pressing the power...that causes the unit to switch off and on, but every time it comes on, it's the same problem (i.e. shows the radio but no sound and doesn't respond to any buttons).

I've tried a factory reset (< > and the voice control button simultaneously) but all that does is immediately make the screen go blank for about 10 seconds, then the normal "Welcome on board" message....and then we're right back to square one.

Is there anything else I can try? Anyone got any ideas? The unit is a few years old so there's no warranty or anything like that.

Pull it out and disconnect it, leave it overnight and then reconnect it tomorrow mornig. Sometimes a rest does them good. If that fails, has yours got a microphone button top right or the old speaker & letter i?

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

It's the slightly newer one with the microphone button

Well, that's a good start then. If you can't get it working there you could send it to me for a repair, or I can offer you an upgrade to a DAB unit.

Well, like a moron I crashed into bed last night and completely forgot to disconnect it! Doh! So I'll do it tonight.

Thanks for the offer... I'll let you know! Although I'm really hoping the disconnect brings it to life. Just bought my first house so I'm skint...and, sod's law being what it is, since I moved in the brakes have started squeaking, it's decided it needs a service and now this! Typical!
