Sun Blinds

Featured Replies

We bought some roll up sun blinds from Halfords for our last car, and when we bought the Yeti, transferred them to our rear windows to give some extra shade for our dog.

The blinds are fitted with 3 rubber suckers, 2 top and one central one at the bottom on each blind.

Please don't do what I've just done. Pressed both rear window buttons. Down they went... and completely swallowed the o/s blind into the window cavity, blind, suckers, the lot! The n/s one popped off.  The temperature is so high at the moment, it must have all got very soft.

Just spent the last 2 hours getting it out again, in pieces. Not fun! Both blinds or what's left of them in the bin!

And before anyone says it.... Yes... I understand "roll up"... :dull:

Thanks for this Fin. I'll have a look at those. I was just very glad that I had my set of trim removal tools today and some long nosed pliers.

At first the window wouldn't come up at all, because the whole blind had been swallowed , but by gently easing the top of the blind out, I managed, by slightly raising and lowering the glass by very small amounts, to get the rest of it out. Part of one sucker is still in the inner door, but the window now raises and lowers fully again.

It was a stupid mistake, and too easily done.

I have had the Car Shades ones for about four years now and have found them very effective and long lasting. I'd buy them again when i change cars.

That's good enough for me. Just ordered a set from them at £75 including delivery.

Proves once again.... Buy cheap.... Get rubbish!

Thanks to you both. :)

Just an update. The blinds have arrived, but the clips to fit them were broken. After spending over 20 minutes on the phone trying to get through to them, I have to say that I am pretty hacked off!

Eventually did get through.... Clips promised..... Still not forthcoming.

So my marks out of 10 stand at zero at the present time.

I'm very surprised to hear this - when I had to contact them the customer service was really good otherwise there is no way I would have recommended them. Hope you get it sorted OK because the blinds are very good - I leave the side window ones in all year round because I find it stops the "booming" you can get when travelling at speed with the the windows partially down. (The dogs and other half like the fresh air - apparently dual control climate control means nothing to them).

Thanks Paul

Well the clips arrived by post this morning..... and then a second lot by courier this afternoon!  So now I have spares

Now fitted, and I must say they look very good.

Getting through to their customer service yesterday..... I flipped! Not often I do, but getting through  to HMRC would have been faster! It seems to have worked.

Our dog loves the centre storage box air conditioning vents. He's usually hunkered down there sniffing for all the cool air he can get, so these will make a big difference overall.

Off up to Inverness again soon, so we will test them out.

Glad you got there in the end. Have to say I tried some aftermarket blinds initially and they didn't fit properly. So after lengthy and protracted arguments with the vendor, I eventually got them to agree to take them back - I sent them back (at my own cost), got my refund (less return postage) and bought the (more expensive) genuine skoda items which were a perfect fit and a league above in terms of quality. I never regretted that decision. Just wish I'd never tried to save a few quid to begin with and just bought the genuine items.
