Best valuation site?

Featured Replies

Not seriously thinking of selling the car any time soon, but would like to try and keep track of its value for the future.

Mine is a 2009 VRS:

Manual

79000 miles

FSH

Bolero

MFSW

Half leather

Billstein B12

What would you say mine's worth?

Maybe WBAC and then maybe add £1,000 if lucky and you can find a buyer otherwise Derren Brown is your best bet.

Any valuation site that buys the car at the suggested valuation would be really really good but then they are just Valuation Sites like Autotrader, Parkers etc

and they make money other ways....Like people advertising with 'Asking Prices', different from selling prices.

I've read that the likes of moneysupermarket is a good free start.

Start an insurance quote with vehicle registration and it'll show 'market value', don't get excited though, I tried my own Octy and was disappointed how much it's depreciated in 3 years.

I know, it's depressing.  I've always sold cars when I could get something for them.  I'm worrying slightly when it comes to changing as I don't have savings aside for a new car.  All my saved money is life savings for weddings/house/whatever... Not sure what to do. Sell the in the next 6-12 months whilst it's worth £4-5k or run it into the ground...

eBay Motors, they have a great feature allowing you to filter by 'sold items'.

I just searched for Skoda > Octavia > 2009 and clicked 'sold items'.

You then get to see the actual prices the cars sold for, none of the dealers artificially inflated asking prices, Glass's overarching guesses or WBAC's effort to grab a bargain.

I use autotrader "my motors" on the iPhone and iPad app.
