My new (to me) car

Featured Replies

My last ~10 cars have all been Skoda's (x3 Yeti's, x2 Roomsters and an assortment of MkI and Mk II Octavia 4x4's). I've been left a little disgruntled with the outcome of the EA189 update on my current Yeti - see separate thread (https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/429970-ea189-emmisions-update-my-experience/) and fancied a change.

It's quite a rare car in the UK (~20 petrols models currently on Autotrader), probably due to a combination of a phenomenally high list price and competition from the established larger cabriolet players - Mercedes, BMW and Audi to name a few. However as a second hand buy it appears to be somewhat of a bargain (at <30% of it's original list price) after just 3 1/2 years and x1 (private) owner. First MOT passed (with no advisories) and an average of just 3K miles between each of the first 4 (main dealer) services.

It drives reasonably well and the hood is truly a work of art. Early days yet, but hope to have some fun with it whilst the sun is still shining.

Is the EOS still around these days?.

It was withdrawn from Australia due to lack of interest which surprised me.

Can I have a #1 on the sides and just trim the top please...

Ooh! can you do something about this grey as well? :giggle:

Cruel

I must admit, having retired this week, I find the Coupe / Cabriolet concept more attractive for UK use than a soft-top.

I may chop one of the SEATs in for a similar car, unless SWMBO lets me have  something like an AMG-look SLK.

I'm guessing the EOS is probably the best but the looks aren't as good as the Cascada IMO.

I don't trust any of the other mass market makers outside VAG who build them to be honest.

I'd looked at the EOS, but the rear seat space is very limited, whereas the Cascada's are actually pretty decent.

I'd also decided to avoid anything with a folding hard-top, given reported issues with leaks / creaks etc.

The Cascada top is fabric and seems to fit well, meaning the car is (relatively) quiet at motorway speeds.

Always liked the Cascada, had one as my demo for a month.

a genuine 4seater, and nice to be able to open and close the roof by using the key.

Is it based on the Astra or the Insignia?

Opel Astra J.

Also sold as a Buick and Holden.
