Premuim contact 6's

Total noob question so forgive me

Since driving the car all I've put on it is contisport contact5's which is what was on it and which I again put on the car back in January when they needed replaced.

After yesterday's puncture and the fact the drivers side was at 2.5mm I got the fronts swapped but the only ones I could get that day were premium contact 6's.

Driving on the motorway getting up to speeds at about 75/80 the front did start to feel rather floaty and it doesn't crash as much over bumps compared to the contisports. Checked pressures and they are fine at 34psi.

Could it just be a softer sidewall and just feels strange considering I'm used to one tyre over another or something else going on

tyres that came off were 205/40/R17 W XL new ones are 205/40/R17 Y XL so at least I know I'm safe up to 186mph in my diesel skoda hatchback

If you have not done many miles on new front tyres they can make the steering feel 'light' (assuming you put 2 new front tyres on).

I always put any new pair of tyres on the front but I am aware  that the steering will feel slightly different until they have done a few miles.

Thanks guys could just be the case.

Just didnt remember the contisports being this light but to be far I did do a road rally just after they were fitted which was 1500 miles so that would have got them scrubbed up well. :D
