Air conditioner

Featured Replies

Now that I have changed the pollen filter, which was filthy, I am thinking that perhaps the air con also has been left out of any maintenance over the last 8 years.

I have the "3" model with auto a/c controls. That is with 2 controls. Temp and blower speed, auto seems to take this over.

There is a panel with touch controls for manual and a choice of venting, and full screen de-misting.

Any recommendations please gratefully received.

Cheers

Your choice as to which, but start with a mobile regas service, unless "KwikFit" are still doing their "much colder or it's free" offer.

Grump Grump, not much need for A/C up in Scotland right now - other than to dehumidify (get rid of the rain water brought into the car), yesterday maybe 10C, today maybe 12C - I've got a fan heater on in the garage to precondition it for me!

Another thing that you could do to complete your A/C maintenance is to buy one of these "bombs" from ECP for about £3.50ish with their current discount, and set that off inside the car as instructed, I've just bought 3 of them while buying springs, so I'll dump one of them in each of the cars - sometime.

I asked a similar question a while back and was directed to "WeChillAbyCar".

Never got through to them, they seem to be somewhat unresponsive so I used KwikFit instead, they were OK.

If you manage to contact WeChillAbyCar, I would very much like to hear of your experience.

I checked.. Wechillanycar.com

Got the website

49.95 for a regass.  And a free offer to do smells and bacteria removal.

Is that helpful?

If the air con is working OK, I wouldn't do anything.  Just leave it alone.

its cool enough but when we got the car it smelled a bit..not now though

what prompted me to ask was the state the pollen filter was in...the service history didnt show any pollen filter change

i did this and the air and fuel...its so cheap on a skoda...

so i thought it might be a good idea to have the system cleaned and disinfected...??

apparently that can be done but not sure if i have to have a regas as well..??

will leave off...its not imminent

do you know the recommendation is that one uses the air con all the time..

mine is auto so it cuts in and out...cold or warm

something to do with keeping the seals lubricated...??

cheers

WeChillAnyCar should be good (based on price) but they aren't very responsive.

We have had a few VERY hot days recently when decent A/C would have been good.

However, my main interest is when humidity is high and I have four people onboard (demisting).

What is the bike - Triumph?

Wechill... are supposed to be very courteous and efficient and offer discount if you have multi cars done at same time.

I would either use them along with their disinfect/cleanse or use a bomb, as mentioned although they are quite small and sometimes don't fully empty. Stick two in to be sure!  I have a smoke machine and use debac stuff myself (Fogger) To do my own occasionally. Great as I can fog to my hearts desire.

If you keep the a/c on (Not on econ), it will keep itself cleaner but switched to econ turns off the refrigerant, and then, when re-used, say a week or so later, smell again for a short while, as does a switch off and then re-used fridge. Regular usage is best. These climatronic systems are great but I just had to have the fan replaced and that was quite expensive and required the dash to be completely removed. Six hours labour!

Wowow..

just been reading up on the A/C. It says to run at least once a month to keep it happy.

I think I have been running it unnecessarily.

may just check out using econ and a bit of natural drought via the face vents.

I have been setting the auto setting temperature at 18-19 which looks like too high

recommended is 20-22.

cheers
