Front bumper removal

Featured Replies

Hi all

need to remove the front bumper later to fix the headlamp. I can see from elsawin that there are screws behind the what would be the fog lamp cover and on the top and bottom

the picture shows 3 other screw on the side, are these all behind the wheel arch cover? Do I need to completely remove the wheel arch liners?

thanks

They are behind the wheel arch liner. You may be able to get to them by undoing the front half and pulling it down slightly.

Well that was a bit of a nightmare, here are some details for anyone wanting to remove the bumper to may be repair the headlamp bracket. The bracket by the fog lamp is the thinest headlamp bracken I have even seen, but Qbond seems to have done the trick.

Whole job ended up taking me 3 hours but could have knocked 90 mins off with better tools.

2 x torx screen and 4 expandable rivets on the top under the bonnet. The rivets will need replacing as need to be pulled out with pliers, bough these off ebay in advance. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-VW-AUDI-SEAT-SKODA-PUSH-FIT-TRIM-BUMPER-COVER-CLIPS-RIVET-1000019/141988442716?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

2 x torx screws in what is the fog lamp blank, 1 each side.

6 x torx screws under the car. 3 each site. 3 expandable rivets which will also need replacing.  ebay again http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-x-SKODA-Plastic-Expanding-Rivets-Grille-Bumper-Trim-Radiator-Cover-Clips/222162258525?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

2 x 10 mm bolts on each side of the bumper attaching it to the wings. You will need to unscrew the wheel arch liners to get to these. They are a real bugger as not a lot of space. You can't get a socket in there so it was just a spanner which has a few mm of movement each turn. This is what cost me all the time. I would suggest a ratchet spanner here to make life easy but will need to be a small form factor.

Hope this helps someone out as was dreading this job.
