Karoq - where's the exhaust?

Featured Replies

On every single picture I've seen of the Karoq there is no sign of any exhaust tail pipes. I know this won't bother most folk but I'm quite attached to my twin chrome tail pipes on my 170 TDI 4x4 and I'll feel short changed if they are missing from the top of the range Karoq.

Skoda & Simply Clever.

Out of sight out of mind.

Dirty Diesels no more, it is all about the SCR and point the exhaust exit downwards.

They are hidden all but the sporty big output engines across the range now.

Anything to do with ICE (both petrol AND diesel) being a dirty word now perhaps??

If that's true I will have nothing to 'worry' about. But if that is the case it brings me back to my original post, why have I not seen the pipes? You can't tell me every single example we have seen in pictures and videos has been the smaller engines variants. For a start that excludes 4x4s.

It also seems a bit late to start hiding the exhaust pipes now as what comes out of the end has never been as 'clean' in the history of motoring.

Personally i have never seen the appeal of exhaust tail pipes even on sporty cars.

I have been known to look at cars i drive in shop windows if they are a nice design.

As to a Diesel Skoda i have never though wooo look at that orifice on that taxi it must really be fast and that driver is so manly / womanly / desirable.

*When the EV versions are released or even light hybrids there will be no need to redesign the rear of the vehicles when there is no exhaust pipe.*

Does my bum look big without a pipe or 2 on show?

Tail pipes are so passé these days

Unless you have a sports car and need to show the "size of your willy" to all the drivers you overtake on your daily commute.

I'm especially thinking Audi RS and BMW M models here with their 2x2 arrangements.

My Kodiaq has given up on tail pipes too. As has the Q5, but that does kinda fake it in the plastic rear skirt.

I think the manufacturers have wakened up to the fact that it's much cheaper to hide the cheaper ugly exhaust outlets under the car and also have a cheaper, symmetrical rear bumper/apron.
