Stainless steel exhaust

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I'd like to replace exhaust with ss all  way  back from manifold. Have anyone got some drawings/advise/ tech specs what to go  for?

Cheers

Might be an idea to say if which engine diesel or petrol, and are you building it, have you looked at what is on now?

Any specialist building a one off will know exactly what is needed and can look at what is fitted now and then say what options they can offer.

Hi sorry. Yes it's 1.2 70hp petrol.

At the moment is all mild steel. It's only small 3 cylinder. Exhaust It's getting quite rusty now and I think it may last for another year or so but would like to get ready now.

Thanks for advise

Stainless will be regarded as a modification by your insurers so worth checking that as well. Is the three cylinder turbo'd? I am new to skodas! If it is and can be mapped would be worth doing with exhaust. Stainless will get you a few more ponies possibly. I have a full stainless on my other car and at least it is one thing that never needs replacing, but I have had the car 14 years. If you aren't going to keep it for years may not be worth the cost.

If you call up an Insurance Broker to declare a Stainless Steel exhaust fitted as a replacement for a OEM exhaust and they try to load your insurance question this if it is a like for like replacement other than the material being Stainless Steel that is unless it is a performance enhancing exhaust which with a 1.2 3 cylinder 70ps engine is highly unlikely.

You would be invalidation your insurance anyway & running an illegal Euro 5 petrol car if you were doing a cat delete which i take it you will not be doing.
