Re-call for emissions sorting

Featured Replies

I have had my letter from DM Keith in Wakefield to have my emissions problem sorted, but have been told by a self-employed mobile mechanic that I have known for many years, a VW specialist that he does work for has told him that cars that have had their emissions problem 'sorted', can't be made to run right.

Can anyone shine any light on this.

If that's the case, I will leave mine as it is. It runs perfectly so why should I risk it for a few emissions. Bus operators don't give a damn about their emissions!!

Correct, there are many reported problems after the fix - Watchdog did a section on it last night :)

I would definitely avoid the fix for now as it's not mandatory, it can always be applied at a later date if it does become mandatory.

Just make sure you clearly state this before handing your keys to a dealer as there have been reports of dealers doing the update without consent.

Insist that your request is written on the worksheet and make sure you gat a copy of that sheet when picking the car up.

So if your car goes into 'Limp Mode" you can go back and ask if it was done and provide evidence of your request.

Saw the Watchdog program and they have found that the EGR valve gets overworked after ' Repair ' which causes limp mode.

VW technical experts( errm ??? ) that sit in their shiny offices and continue to insist the work does not cause this despite the number of issues that continue to be reported.

I cant understand why all the people having issues ( all brands ) here in the UK don't band together and take VW to court ?

I always watch Watchdog, and especially for information such as this............

VW decision makers..........................SHAME ON YOU, you *******............. You are ruining peoples lives.

To the OP, as stated above, do not allow it to be done.

Thanks everyone for replying to my question.

I can't believe that VW exec's are continuing to deny that there is a problem against all the evidence. There seems to be very little moral fibre in people in exalted places these days. They're only in it for the huge salary!

Whats to gain? A cleaner conscience.

Whats to loose? A reliable car.

I know what I'd choose.

i emails skoda uk to ask if they would exchange my vrs /dsg /decel to a tsi petrol model same year and speck except petrol,

funny enough no reply

i wont be getting the fix done on my car as it runs and performs great,

There's a closed 5000 strong FB group starting to act as a pressure group on VAG and DfT. Lots of info on the group, you can search for "The Volkswagen Diesel Customer Forum (Emissions Scandal)" or see if this link works, (not sure if I'm allowed to post a link) here
