My daughter's boyfriend is in Brighton at the moment with noisy rear brakes on his Focus.  After a bit of advice from me it turns out he's signed up (if that's what you do) to Halfords Brakes4life. As it's Sunday, I looked up if there was anywhere near them that was open.  This image comes from the Halfords website;

and unless I'm mistaken, shows a calliper hanging with it's weight on the flexi hose.  Might not bother some people, but it does me, and I thought 'Yup, just about sums it up'

‘Halfords and brakes’ are two words that should never be used in the same sentence IMHO.

 Halfords and break your car is a high possibility, break the bank as well!

If it's advertising (badly) brakes, I also wondered why the TRE was off too 

 

Update on boyo's car; he's got it home (about eight miles), but it sounded awful, and they 'think' something fell off on the way.  My daughter's just sent my wife a photo of what looks like the central exhaust heat shield hanging loose.  

 

Green flag have just turned up.  And I think they were mightily impressed the car didn't need recovery, pronounced the rear brakes shagged and were gone in under two minutes.

 

He had a 2" disc shaped flap on his OSF tyre wall last week, with associated damage to the alloy.  I explained about pinch damage, but the MOT tester had apparently said it was okay.  Said I wouldn't drive it with that much of a slice out of a tyre wall.  He's apparently bought three new tyres since.  Glad it's his money, not mine.
