Octavia Duel Mass Flywheel problem?

Can anyone help to identify a problem I have with my Octavia 1.9 tdi (2009) with a DSG 6 speed auto box, please?

To try to explain the symptoms; first there seems to be an in-balance feeling within the car at speeds upward from 40mph to about 70 mph. This occurs when cruising on a level road. It does not occur all the time and it does not occur when accelerating.

There is no connected sound to this in-balance feeling (i.e. no juddering or rattling). The in-balance does NOT come through the steering wheel but is felt more on the pedals and in the seat of the car. If I had to try and further describe this tremor it is more like (on an old car) the prop shaft was out of balance or an engine mount was loose. Engine mounts have been checked by the way!

Many said it was tyre/wheel related but all have been balanced and now all tyres have been changed and balanced. The problem persists.

Further, there is a noise that is not directly related to the tremor feeling as it occurs when the car is stationary. At tick over it is like a lazy scrapping sound. This increases a bit as I increase the revs but does not increase as fast as I would say the engine revs do - if that makes any sense? You cannot hear this sound within the engine compartment. It can only be heard within the car and, in fact, is not present all the time.

I have been to a dozen garages, one an auto specialist with a diagnostic machine, and non have been conclusive. The most consistent result of scratching heads and sucking of teeth seems to be leading to a failure of the Duel Mass Flywheel which may have damaged a bearing (or two). Obviously I do not want to go to the cost of having the auto box removed only to find out it has nothing to do with the problem I am experiencing.

Can anyone suggest how I can really identify the cause of this in-balance and the scrapping noise?

Many thanks

If it was me as several garages cannot identify the problem I would ignore it, if the dual mass flywheel is failing wait till it fails.....if it does. Why go through the cost of checking when it does not happen all the time. Drive it and enjoy it
