Amundsen to Columbus upgrade (MK3 Octavia)

So, I'm grabbing my new Octavia (2014 DSG Elegance) on Thursday. In my existing car I have a Bolero and no MSFW or nav. The new car gets Nav and a MFSW but I really want the bigger screen and MIB2 based Carplay. After doing some searching online and in some VW forums, I found a guy who is a former VW engineer who now does a whole raft of retrofit work. I messaged him via Facebook and he's quoted £1350 to supply, fit and code in a brand new Columbus. From what I've learnt from the chat with the guy is; 1. He seriously knows the MBQ platform inside out and there's lots he's able to add from a coding perspective (Remote key fob wing mirror retracting as an example ). 2. That the upgrade of the Octavia's head unit is contingent on it being a new unit that's not been in another vehicle and direct from the manufacturer. 

Has anyone else actually spent the cash and upgraded? Really interested to know who has done this.
