component speaker upgrade help

Featured Replies

good morning everyone, i was wondering if some of you on here would be so kind to help, i am going away next week on a road trip around europe and my two left hand side front and rear component speakers have blown, they dont give out and sound or bass, and all you get from them is a cracking noise. i need to get them replaced and need some advice on what to replace them with, i dont want to be spending thousands just a couple of hundred quid to replace all the speakers including the tweeters, im not massively into bass and blowing my ears out either, i own a green vrs mk2.5 2012 and i have a touch screen head unit without nav, it has a cd changer but i dont use that at all.

any ideas on what i need and need to do to get it fixed and working again.

thanks

ben

If you're not using an amp you want to get something with reasonable sensitivity i.e. at least 91db.  Within your price range I would consider Hertz or Focal.  The Hertz in particular are good with low power in, so not necessarily needing an amp.

@Danny77 Do you have the Canton system in your Sportline? Will you be tweaking it?

Sadly not, although the basic system is actually pretty good.  Nice balance, good detail, you just can't drive it massively hard.  I might tweak it, yes, just exploring those options.  May just end up putting an active sub in.
