Switch Off Brake Pad Warning Light

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone!

I wonder if you can help me out please? I've not long moved from my old Fabia VRS to a 2011 Seat Altea (yes I'm gutted) but I have a very mysterious problem with this Seat!!

During spells of warm ambient weather the Brake Pad Warning light comes on?? However when it is cold outside or I haven't driven it for a while, the light stays off??

Now I thought that this was probably due to the brakes being old and knackered... So I have just had brake Discs and Pads (including sensors) replaced and I am still getting the same problem!!

I've asked Seat if they could give me an Idea of what the issue could be and they've come back with nothing. So I've got to the point now where I've just though Stuff It!! Is there any way using a program like VCDS that I can switch the pad warning light system off and just go back to the old school way of checking the pads regularly and getting them changed when they look ropey??

So I guess my questions are:

1) Is it possible to switch off the brake pad warning lights?

2) What version of VCDS/what kit would I need to be able to do this?

3) Does anyone know any places near Chepstow that I could go to to get this done?

Cheers Folks!!

Greg

The brake pad warning light is probably the same as other VAG cars, and also warns of low brake fluid level, so it's maybe not a good idea to disable it.
