Genuinely baffled! None starting problem, please help??

Featured Replies

Evening guys, looking for help with my fab 1.9tdi pd elegance please

Long story short, it started to really run awful on cold starts, coughing and spluttering almost feeling like a miss fire. , when warm struggling to get any boost, and going into limp mode. Then 2 days ago I disconnected the battery over night to try and clear faults on the ecu, and ever since it has failed to start at all, its just turning over and not Even attemting to fire. I've tried changing the injector loom as I heard this was a common fault but hasn't solved it. Also fitted a new fuel filter and tried swapping the maf and map sensor out, to no avail. The glow plug wiring where it connects onto the plugs was also perished, so I replaced this, still not solved. I then went down the route of replacing the tandem pump, still nothing. I will add it does fire up with a squirt of easy start down the intake, but dies immediately after. Has anyone got any ideas? Thinking along the lines of maybe a failed crankshaft sensor which could have made it run bad as it was failing?(although rev counter is showing about 350 revs when turning over) High pressure fuel pump Or maybe glow plug relay(although I wouldn't have thought this would cause a running problem when warm??) Managed to get hold of a snap on MODIS diadnostic tool last night, had a few codes on there, most to be expected, due to egr delete etc, strange one tho and thats the ambient air temp fault under immobilizer scan, which won't clear(it is missing so that explains that)

Has anyone got any rough ideas what they would try next? It all seems very odd that its failed to start having had the battery disconnected over night, even though it was running rough prior, it was still running.

Please help me guys, I'm desperate. Cheers

I had an issue with mine suddenly not starting when hot. It would also loose power as i was driving. Turned out to be loose clamps on the fuel filter obviously allowing air into the fuel lines.

You could have a split pipe somewhere

I'd check the belt condition and it's timing.     Oh and one thread per problem helps everyone!   as in chronological order:)
