High Idle Skoda Fabia MKii vrs

Featured Replies

Hi All,

i have recently noticed that, if I'm at a stand still with the engine on for a while. The idle revs goes to around 1100.

The car car is up to temp and if I drive off, the car goes back to the normal rev speed 850ish.

Any ideas?

1,100 rpm on a cold start or warm / hot start is usual, then after 40 seconds or so it should be down at about 800-850 rpm.

 'They all do that sir'.

Has yours not always done it from new?

So is A/C on

, ambient temp outside higher,

battery needing charged as power demand is high, so higher RPM will stationary?

PS

If it does it in 'D' next time then slip to 'S' while sitting and is it still at the same RPM,

ie as it is normally when sitting on 'D' @ 850rpm, and going to 'S' and the rpm rises.

Hi,

That's the thing, it goes from high idle to normal. And then goes back up to high idle if I'm at a stand still for a while.

AC wasn't on at the time it happend.

My best guess is your cooling fans coming on.

Are you due an oil change,

if so it can take more energy / fans on to get the older oil cooler and back towards 90*oC ish type temp.
