hi, anyone had a turbo replaced using a recon/exchange unit ? any info advice etc appreciated  

changed mine a few months ago, bought a recon from midland turbo. next day delivery. think it cost around £280 

Got mine from euro car parts ages ago. Had no problems with it.

what was their service like?

Service was top notch. Gave them a ring and ordered the turbo, turned up next day. When the job was done, packed old turbo up in the box the new one came in. Gave them a ring and they collected it the next day. 

 

I fitted mine my self, pretty straight forward other than a stupid exhaust clamp that didn't want to let go. 

 

I have used Midland a few times before and never had a single problem with them.

 TPS had turbos on special offer the other week £350

I used my local indie to fit one from Nerings on ebay. Fantastic price, was spotless and a like new remanufacured Garrett turbo and they returned the exchange deposit within hours of receiving the old unit. Cost 200 quid for the part once I had deposit back and I would use them again.

And how much did your indie charge you? 

About 250 as I recall.
