5year service?

Featured Replies

SWMBO's Citigo is now 5 years old in September and has hit the dizzy heights of 10.5k miles!

Can anyone advise what service is required?

I think it will need cambelt/Aircon and regular service but not 100% sure and any idea on cost at a Skoda dealers?

TIA

Ben

Even at low miles, maybe especially at low miles the Service Schedule / Guidelines are Brake Fluid Change @ 3 years then 2 yearly after.

Maybe you can have the Technician check for H2o in the Brake Fluid and change if required.

As to Air Filter worth checking it. Replace if Required.

Was the Pollen Filter changed at 2 years and 4 years?

I doubt it needs a cambelt, but that will be your choice,

eg,  Driving Style / Location Location type thing.

A/C, again depends, is it on all the time, when was it done previously.

Best discuss with a Technician that does not just do stuff because that's what pays the wages, but because best for the Owner / Safety / Longevity.

it has been serviced in accordance with the recommended intervals right? i hope it hasn't done 5 years without an oil or filter change.

as for the air con, if it works ok and is nice and cold then don't worry about it.

the timing belt is a 4 year interval i think so worth getting that done as the rubber will start to deteriorate.

things like getting the rear brakes striped and cleaned might be an idea especially if its done very short journeys

brake fluid change would be due if it was done at 3 years so needs doing again every 2 years now.

i would do the pollen filter and also air filter and spark plugs as they are cheap enough to do and doubt they were replaced previously.

^^^

Looking forward to hearing what was done in the last 4 years.   @ what was charged each year.

It should have been 3 oil and filter changes if on fixed servicing / Service plan.

Pollen filter twice @ 2 years & 4 years,

Brake Fluid at 3 years,

Air filter could have been a look see,  (and due a change at 2nd Major / Inspection service 5 years / 40,000 miles)

as was the Brake pads were a look see, and the rear shoes.  Maybe not even a look see.

Should have said it was fully serviced at main dealer for first 3 years in accordance with the service schedule; then last year I missed the dealer service and just did the pollen filter/air filter not the oil.

After 2000 miles from the 3rd service, the oil was still like new.

Hence thinking it will be oil service/cambelt/Aircon possibly brake fluid this time.

Well, rang local Skoda dealer, quoted £499 for cambelt and water pump, told both need doing, which I tend to disagree with as the water pump is opposite side of the engine?

And

£279 for major service,......... Grand total £778!!!!!

Local independent £225 cambelt (water pump not needed) and major service £160..... Grand total £385 :)

You can guess who will get the job.
