I live in the Barnard castle area and just wondered if anyone in the area has the handset required to disable the stop/start feature on my car ( for a fee ). The main dealer will not do it, for obvious reasons.

There is a map here of all the VCDS owners on the forum. If they have been active within the past month and are local to you there's good chance you should be able to pop over and vist them for them to disable start/stop for you
