Columbus start up

Featured Replies

Screen appears faulty on start up, is this an issue to worry about or anything to sort it out??

Sometimes "system starting" comes up after a while also

I've had the odd one or two which have shown this fault occasionally. I seem to recall a software reload usually fixes it.

What's the best (easiest) way to go about doing this? See alot of posts on forum about Columbus unit but I'm a newbie to all this, most of the info is over my head, my last car was a Seat Exeo which just updated from a disc

Any help greatly appreciated

What do you know about the unit? What firmware has it got on it at the moment and map details?

Taken this off setup

DEL PART NO.: 3T0035686H

HW-VERSION: H21

SW-VERSION: 6270

ACTIVE MAP COVERAGE: WEST EUROPE

ACTIVE MAP SUPPLIER: NAVTEQ

MAP VERSION HDD: 8048

 hope this helps

Right, so it's an SSD version.

I'll message you.

What gives away that it is an ssd?

is it the E ?

mine is 3T0035686 0E ??

The software version. All SSD units are 6*** software based, HDD are all previous versions (0***,1***, 2***, 3***, 4***, and 5***).

I keep toying with the idea of buying an ssd (ide) whilst still available and setting it up ready for the inevitable hdd failure.

Would you (being the god of Columbus) consider this worthwhile?

Do you mean just buying the SSD hard drive, or the complete SSD unit?

Stupid question time, but is there any way to choose between all radio presets at once instead of just the 6 on screen or having to select 1-6, 7-12 etc??

No, not possible. What you can do is select the arrow buttons (on the Columbus screen or on the steering wheel) to cycle through all the preset stations rather than searching for the next frequency station.

Just an ssd drive.

Not really worth bothering with I reckon. The HDD drives are fairly bomb proof and don't often fail.

Hi, got the start up issue sorted, my dealer left the car in with Skoda who reloaded the system.

Still get the system starting message (delay) when I switch from ipod to tuner, but can live with that.

Quick question on the sat nav, I use this a lot for work, when I enter a new location it takes me down small back roads, is there any way to set it to use major roads instead??

I've tried searching the settings but can't find how to do this, my previous Seat Exeo had a setting to change this

It ain’t bugging me enough to bring it to a dealer, only appears at start up. More interested in knowing if there’s any firmware and map updates out

I wouldn't have bothered either but the car was under warranty with an independent dealer who took it to Skoda.

Other users can tell you about updates, I'm holding off yet

Rustynuts knows his stuff
