A3 Sports Seats Transplant - help requested.

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Having owned my VRS from new I have found over the last year or so that the drivers seat is no longer the comfy place it once was, with the frame pressing on my sciatic nerve on any more than a short journey.

I have followed the various threads about replacing the seats with others from the vag group, and having found a set of A3 Sports seats on Ebay that had been reduced to just £50 I decided to take a chance on them.

The good news was that the front seats fitted straight in, although the connector plugs looked the same on first sight they are actually different. The rear seats did not fit at all, and to be honest the VRS ones actually seemed to be more substantial than the A3 ones. So the rear seats stay.

As I said the connectors are different on the fronts and it looks like the easiest solution is to cut the plugs off my old seats and attach them onto the new ones. Here are the plugs from the VRS FSP seat. The large one I believe is for the heated seats and as the A3 ones don't have it they can be ignored.

Can anyone give me a heads up on which wires on the Skoda plugs need to be connected to which wires on the A3 seats? I've tried having a look around the forums but haven't had any success. I'm assuming the black/blue/brown from the yellow plugs will be the same, but what about the small black plug from the VRS ? Hopefully the photos are clear enough to see the colours of the various wires.  Is there anything else to consider other than VCDS when complete?

The fronts really do feel a lot better than the old VRS ones...

Any help advice or direction would be much appreciated

Many Thanks guys......

I recently swapped my vRS seats for some from a Leon FR.  I was lucky enough to plug & play as the connectors were exactly the same, even the small black one.  I'm not 100% sure but I seem to think that the small black plug on your Skoda seats will be for the seat belt.

Just cut the yellow airbag connector plug from your skoda and soldier to the Audi A3 using the same wire colours and you should be good to go.

The little black plug will be unfastened seat belt warning light and can be left unplugged.

I did what Willydog did.

Cut off the Audi connecter from the Audi seat and soldered on the Skoda connector.

Only the yellow one was different.
