Misfire but no misfire

Featured Replies

Hello i have just bought two skoda`s and  one of them are having a strange problem i hope i can get som help sorting out!

This is a Skoda Octavia 2005 1.6FSI petrol with 126000km on the meter.

This is the problem:

Once the engine has had time to heat up, after about 20 - 30 mins of driving there can be what feels like a misfire / choke / judder / hesitation - where the engine feels as if its braking for a split second before picking up again. Most recently on a 60 mile drive.

It has occurred whilst cruising at motorway speed, on a and b roads - and at different speeds.

I regularly drive the car and on many days it runs trouble free.

On idling when the fault is there it sounds like it misfires.

I have changed coilpacks all four, spark plugs and fuel-filter, i have also had a visual check on the fuel pump control modul

It only happens when car is warm og not cold, i have read a lot about problems  with the cam follower and hpfp pump ,this part has never been changed/checked on my car. If this was the fault should i not get this fault when the car is cold to?

There are not any fault codes from my ecu.

Hopes for some inputs on this :-)

A faulty lead to one of the spark plugs, perhaps?  Sometimes you can hear a clicking noise, or even a spark seen in darkness.

Must be spark plugs or the coils.
