Octavia problems

Poasted earlier this year about ECU failure issues, I have now given up trying to get a working ECU from BBA Reman. nearly £600 quid later (long story) I have told them I want a refund and returned the "exchange recon" unit to them.

I found a bundle of parts on Ebay for my BLF engined car and am trying that, however I have a problem with the instrument binnacle, the replacement one (matched to the replacement ECU) has a piece missing from the plastic fascia, and as mine was stuck fast in the dashboard I have now broken that so I now have to find a replacement instrument "glass".

Apart from that there is a two cored cable that seems to run from the instrument loom down to the sensor on the ignition barrel, this has been cut when the replacement was removed, I am assuming it is ok to solder that back together  - its a silly design fault really putting a plug where it cant be accessed to disconnect.

Any pointers about swapping this stuff out would be appreciated.

Beyond that I know of 2 businesses in this rural area that have had major issues with BBA Reman, it seems that items being returned as "repaired" but still displaying the original fault is a common occurrence, My personal experience would lead me to caution anyone tempted to use them for any repairs.
