Mk2 Octavia estate boot won't open

Recommended Posts

Hi all

sorry if this topic has been covered already but my boot no longer opens, I have checked it with vcds and the switch is operating ok but still no operation via output test, so I replaced the boot latch still no joy, so I tested the wireing between the latch and the comfort control module which tested fine, so I replaced the comfort control module re coded modual and it still doesn't work, please note everything else in the tailgate works fine.

Any my help would be greatly appreciated

the car car is a 2005 Octavia estate elagence mk2

Does the estate have the 'soft touch' grab to open boot??

If so you need to take that out as the inside gets damp and corrodes the soft touch metal contacts.

A simple sand and clean up will sort it as the rust stops the metal to metal connection.

Very common on a lot of vag soft touch boot handles.

Had same problem.

Started off by Cable Following and removed / replaced Switch (the actual latch mechanism) - and still no joy - because - there is a SECOND SWITCH / RELAY further up the line.

Replaced the latter and all was well (but first unit replacement and cost unnecessary as it turned out!) Pity my Dealer, when asked for advice, didn't (was unable to) give me the correct information!
